Attention WESPAC Members:
Project SHARE, the community outreach program that was at Hastings High school for over 20 years has now become incorporated and is now SHARE the Project. We are holding our first ever annual Empty Bowls fundraiser to help support SHARE so we can continue to grow and spread awareness about the ever expanding poverty level by acting locally within the 5 boroughs and Westchester. SHARE has also hosted a Thanksgiving dinner that serves over 500 men, women and children each year on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving for 22 years. It’s a miraculous event and it’s continuing to get bigger and better so we need to start raising funds now!
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots movement that can be adopted by any non-profit organization that helps feed the hungry. Local high schoolers and crafts-people are creating and donating handmade ceramic bowls that will be for sale at the event. Hastings vendors are donating soup for people to sample and try in their newly purchased beautiful hand crafted bowls. Each bowl is supposed to remind everyone of all the Empty Bowls in the world.
Please come and support us! Buy a bowl, eat some yummy soup and network and connect with the local community. We will be setting up a table with a clay project for kids to keep busy and have fun with. And of course what’s a picnic without some good tunes…local bands will be playing, so come and get down with SHARE the Project, MAY 1st!
Hope to see you all there!!
Cheers,
