JOSEPH SCOTT CHAMBERLIN
Joseph Scott Chamberlin, beloved and respected brother of Jill Chamberlin McCormack of Tallahassee, FL, Leslie Chamberlin Hunt of Sedona, AZ, and Wendy A. Chamberlin of Bridgehampton, NY, and uncle of Kenneth Sullivan of Chicago, IL, Sean Sullivan of Windham, NH, and Garrett McCormack of Tallahassee, FL, passed away September 29, at his home in New Rochelle.
Mr. Chamberlin was born in San Francisco, CA, in 1949, the son of the late Joseph W. Chamberlin and Jean Richardson Chamberlin, and moved with his family at an early age to Darien, CT, where he attended public schools. He was graduated from The Pomfret School in Pomfret, CT, and attended American University in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Chamberlin spent many of his post-college years working as a farrier/blacksmith in the Pacific Northwest and, after that, in the film industry in Los Angeles.
Since moving to New Rochelle many years ago Mr. Chamberlin held a variety of sales and service positions and was employed at the time of his death as a salesperson of organic farm products. He was a long-time volunteer for the WESPAC Foundation, a leading force in New York State for peace and justice issues, and was also actively involved as an advocate for many national environmental, green-building and social justice causes.
Mr. Chamberlin was also a passionate and deeply principled supporter of numerous local and regional initiatives to preserve endangered wildlife species, a collector of historical musical instruments and a student of 19th century photography and early film-making. He will be sorely missed and forever remembered by his loving family and others he impressed with his many kindnesses and concerns.
A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Donations may be made in Mr. Chamberlin’s name to WESPAC, 52 North Broadway, White Plains, NY 10603.
