In a case particularly relevant to the current crisis, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) will be arguing the appeal of Matar v. Dichter next Friday in Manhattan . Please come out in support!
Just before midnight on July 22, 2002, the , former Director of Israel’s General Security Service, planned and directed this “targeted” assassination with the knowledge that civilians would be killed. The case, filed by the CCR in 2005, was dismissed in 2007 because, according to the Israeli government, Dichter was acting in the course of his official duties and therefore immune from liability. The appeal is being heard next Friday, January 16 (details below). For more information on the case, see CCR’s factsheet (www.ccrjustice.org/files/1.8.09 final dichter factsheet.pdf). ( ) dropped a one-ton bomb on a residential apartment building in Gaza City . The aerial bomb killed 15 people, including 8 children and injured more than 150 people.
