Community Meeting on Yonkers Police Conduct

DOJ is investigating allegations that Yonkers, NY Police Department officers use excessive force and engage in discriminatory policing practices.

The United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Special Litigation  Section and the United States Attorney’s office for the Southern District of NewYork (collectively, “DOJ”) are currently conducting a civil investigation of the Yonkers Police Department pursuant to the police misconduct provision of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, 42 U.S.C. § 14141.
 
DOJ is investigating allegations that Yonkers Police Department officers use excessive force and engage in discriminatory policing practices.
If you have information regarding the conduct of the Yonkers Police Department, please attend the Community meeting on January 31, 2015. We are particularly interested in information regarding conduct that has occurred within the last three years (2011 – present). The Community meeting will be held at the  Yonkers Public Library at 10:00am.
