Refugees: A Call to Action by the Westchester, Rockland and the Hudson Valley Community

As the tides of refugees from war in the Middle East literally wash ashore in Europe, we are witness to human tragedy of unfathomable proportions. In a world where governments wage wars that result in the displacement of tens of millions of people, we as human beings face a responsibility and a real opportunity to do the right thing. We welcome the tired, the poor the hungry and endangered to our country and community.  We cannot be witness and not take action.  All around the country, municipalities and local communities are calling for the United States of America to open wide the doors to the refugees, and are ready to welcome refugee families into their communities.   We in the Westchester, Rockland and Hudson Valley Community join in the call for action to save and welcome refugees as follows:

Dear Nada,On Nov. 14, Con Edison, the City of Mt. Vernon, and NY League of Conservation Voters will give an introductory presentation at the Doles Recreation Center at 6:30 pm for a utility thermal network proposal. Please see the attached flyer in jpg and pdf. A Utility Thermal Network is the most efficient and cost-effective way of heating and cooling buildings. With the help of Con Edison and the City of Mt. Vernon, some residents of the city may have an opportunity to enroll in a pilot project that will upgrade the participating residents' heating, cooling, and hot water systems to a thermal network at no cost to them. These residents would enjoy lower utility bills and safer, more comfortable, and pollution-free heating and cooling. Scaling up such networks will eventually pay a huge role in cutting greenhouse has and co-pollutant emissions from New York's building sector, which is currently the largest source of such emissions in the state.Thank you!Anshul--Anshul Gupta (he/him)Policy & Research Director, New Yorkers for Clean Power[email protected]201-357-0794 ...
