SUMMARY:The US Occupation of Haiti
DESCRIPTION:WESPAC invites you to a screening of “The Forgotten Occupation”\, a documentary that revisits the U.S occupation of Haiti through a letter to the director’s grandfather and unravels the paradox of a man who longed for American rule and a nation scarred by it. “The Forgotten Occupation” blends intimate memory with sweeping history and confronts exile\, love\, and the uneasy truths at the heart of freedom.  \nAfter the screening join us for a panel discussion with the Director Alain Martin\, Pastor Amos Joseph from the Church of God of Nyack\, and Renold Julien\, Executive Director of Konbit Neg Lakay.  \n  \nAll proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Konbit Neg Lakay\, an organization supporting our local Haitian immigrant communities which have recently come under increased threat with the Supreme Court’s ruling on Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Konbit Neg Lakay is a Haitian nonprofit community organization established in Rockland County in 1987.  \n  \nThe price of admission for the event is a suggested donation of $15\, but as long as there is space at the event\, nobody will be turned away due to lack of funds. The screening will be hosted at The Angel in Nyack. Please RSVP here.”
