Terry Dugan has been a WESPAC supporter for several years and began writing poetry about the war and about women and children with AIDS when she was working on a Master’s Degree in writing at Manhattanville College. Her AIDS poetry has won several awards, including an honorable mention in the Greenburgh poetry contest in 2005 and a first place in the ARTS for AIDS competition. Terry was invited to read an AIDS poem at a conference at the United Nations in 2006. Her war poetry has been published in Women’s Studies Quarterly, online at protest poems.org, in the anthology The Form of Matter, and in the Anthology of New England Poets 2008. Her war poetry has been awarded honorable mention in the Nicholson Political Poetry contest and a commendation in the New England Writers 20th Annual Free Verse contest. Catalina Restrepo was born in Medellin, Colombia. A poet, musician and singer, Catalina has performed in her home country of Colombia, a variety of musical groups as a student at White Plains High School, and other groups in Westchester County where she now resides. Some of the greatest influences on her music and poetry have been Antares, the first musical group of which she was a part, a stormy childhood and discontent with the social issues of her country. She is currently a teacher of the Spanish language and an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher assistant. Catalina dreams in poetry and aims to inspire her students everyday. She is also working to create a poetry and art collective for Spanish speakers in Westchester County.
